About the Position:
The role of a Quality Control Inspector is to perform or assist in a variety of quality control and inspection work related to a specific discipline ensuring all standards, codes and regulations are met for the manufacturing process.
Hours of Work:
Day Shift: 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM (Monday – Thursday) 40 Hours Per Week
What will you be doing:
- Inspect/review product material, weld quality, fit quality, and testing to ensure compliance with Code, Standards, Specifications and Cambridge Pro Fab’s Quality Assurance Manual
- Perform in-process and final inspections as stated in Cambridge Pro Fab’s Quality Assurance Manual
- Ensure proper records of all inspections are kept on file and files for each contract are kept up to date
- Become the quality lead for all assigned projects; including but not limited to product inspections, product audits, paperwork, document management and submittals, working with customer quality staff, tracking, and reporting key performance indicators
- Ensure quality control documentation is compiled, maintained, and completed in a timely matter to meet project deadlines
- Verify welding follows CSA and AWS specifications
- Report to the QA Manager any issues which may affect the production due dates and quality of manufactured product
- Deal with the customer’s Quality Assurance Inspectors in a courteous, professional manner
- Perform any other tasks that he/she or the QA Manager feels is required to better the company
- Promote and maintain effective communications and relations (verbally and in writing) with supervisor and the project management team
- Represent the company at all levels of business and adhere to the principles set out in the company mission statement
- Must possess a continuous improvement mindset, working on and leading improvements as required
- Report to the QA Manager any contravention to the OHSA or other regulations, including Cambridge Pro Fab Inc.’s policies and procedures, report any physical hazards
- Travel to suppliers or contractors if required.
- Extended hours may be required from time to time.
- Other duties as assigned.
What you bring to Cambridge Pro Fab Inc:
- Fitting and welding experience is mandatory.
- Level 1 Welding Inspector or CWB Welding Supervisor Certification is an asset.
- Working knowledge of CSA W47.1, W59 AWS D1.1, D1.6, and NDE Inspections.
- Proven record of punctuality and reliability with a good attendance and performance record.
- Knowledge of quality control procedures, blueprint reading, weld processes, record keeping and systems considered an asset.
- Experience working with and inspecting paint coatings and galvanizing is considered an asset.
- Excellent communication, technical writing, and organizational skills.
- Proven time management skills and strong attention to detail.
- Works well under pressure.
- Must be familiar with NDE test procedures.
- Be computer literate in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, AutoCAD.
- Ability to work effectively with team members and yet be independent and self-reliant when completing tasks.
- Demonstrate initiative and is a proactive problem solver.
- Be proactive and accountable for deadlines and job requirements, able to prioritize.
- Willingness to work different shifts and extra hours as required.
