The Series Lead, reporting directly to the Project Manager, will play a key role in providing leadership in managing/supervising construction projects by assisting in the project management and coordination of schedules, manpower, customer relations, engineering, and procurement. Risk analysis, project forecasting, liaising with EPC and subcontractors are daily occurrences in these positions.
The Series Lead directs, coordinates and exercises functional authority for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of engineering and construction requirements within the scope of a specified project.
What You'll Do Here
Lead by example to ensure a ONE TEAM Project-First, collaborative approach for internal, external, cross-JV and client-facing interactions. Create the context that promotes this and other values that are required to make the project successful
Demonstrates strong nuclear safety culture. Maintains such a culture using event free tools and technical conscience. Assists and monitors safety programs and statistics as required
Support the Project Manager in creating and sharing the vision of project success with the team
Ensure the team has a clear understanding of contractual requirements
Ensure the partner is properly resourced and aligned, and resolve issues related to that
In conjunction with the Project Manager, ensure adequate project systems are in place to monitor the performance indicators that will lead to project success (e.g. include leading and lagging indicators as appropriate). Identify targets where appropriate
Ensure the delivery of all its scope in accordance with safety standards, on time, on budget and compliant with the Contract
Provide regular and accurate progress updates to the Project Manager, CanAtom Project Controls and the client for reporting purposes
Interfaces and coordinates with project Design Team Lead (DTL), Field Engineering Manager, Construction Manager, QC lead and relevant Project stakeholders. Ensures a collaborative approach with engineering to ensure that the linkage between design, constructability, and execution is sustained
Manages Project Coordinators, Identifies project manpower requirements and coordinates manpower with appropriate trades and subcontractors
Arranges and Attends project meetings, and maintains meeting minutes as necessary
Ensure adherence of CanAtom Quality program, Project scope and risk register, and actively participates in risk identification, register updates and implementation of mitigating plans, for its scope
Works collaboratively with Engineering leads to understand Engineering design and to ensure adherence to OPGs Engineering Change Control (ECC) process
Reads and analyzes Boiler install drawings, tool and mock-up general assembly drawings, and code and technical specification documents related to the SGR project. Coordinates activities relating to technical developments, and scheduling
Manages and controls project changes and priorities in accordance with project procedures and client governance
Support development, evaluates, understands project P6 schedule, logic, priorities, status, key milestones, critical path activities, project budget and expenditures. Identifies project performance challenges, opportunities and provides improvement feedback and recovery plans on cost and schedule to customer, project team, and management
Reviews and incorporates relevant operating experience and lessons learned into planning and installation activities
Maintains active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understating and implementing policies and procedures
Manages preparation and ensures completion of pre-installation activities such as Work Assessment, Comprehensive Work Packages (CWPs) etc. Maintains high standards related to final CWP product quality and to consistently require conformance from trades, quality staff, and subcontractors
Performs work planning preparation and coordination of multi-discipline work groups. Identification and interfacing with all relevant stakeholders and process owners to meet prescribed objectives
Prepares for installation activities, plans and manages project execution. Maintains good field presence and works collaboratively with construction and Project Manager for material movement and coordination of execution activities.
Provide on-site implementation support and ensure field changes are addressed and approved as per applicable procedures
Consistently works in collaboration with QA and Engineering to solve issues collaboratively via FCRs, NCRs, and ACERs
Coordinate with project team to complete non-engineering documents such as Operation, Maintenance and Training Documents (Project EC).
Prepares commissioning strategy and logic, Construction Completion Declaration, Availability For Service, Operation and other stakeholders acceptance and closeout
Reviews and ensures proper documentation of commissioning specifications, procedures/ results, and their acceptance by appropriate stakeholders
Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, as built drawings, turnover documents, etc.
Prepares/participates in preparation of Installation Completion Declaration
Coordinates/reviews the availability of Spare Parts required for commissioning and AFS
Work collaboratively with the SGR stakeholders to ensure the Project requirements are met and represents the most efficient methods to deliver its Scope
Driving compensatory actions related to adverse quality trends during the project
Stakeholdering with the Client on requests for contract changes in close collaboration with the support team
Tracking and expediting internal and external deliverables as part of the contract
Provide frequent, informal performance feedback to SGR team members, and formal feedback according to home office company policy. Endeavor the feedback to be in person wherever possible
What Do You Bring To The Team
Technical (Engineering or Engineering Technology) education
5+ years experience working on a large nuclear engineering, modification, maintenance, and construction projects
Sound knowledge of engineering and project management principles and process associated with nuclear generation facilities
Well-rounded experience and understanding of field construction activities, readiness planning, issue resolution, and closeout requirements
Proficient written (report writing) communication skills
Knowledge of the various welding processes an asset, including the pros/cons of each, and has a working understanding of the critical parameters for the welding to be performed on the project
Knowledge of the approval process for deviations from the design documents as they occur and before release to construction an Asset (e.g. FCRs, FIC/FCNs, NCRs, RRs)
Knowledge of SharePoint applications an asset
