What Is The Opportunity?
Aecon is currently seeking a Track Construction Manager to join the GO Rail Expansion (RER) project, located in the Greater Toronto Area. This transformational project is the largest capital infrastructure project in Ontarios historic GO Rail Expansion program!
What You'll Do Here:
- Support definition of method statements.
- Responsible for working collaborative with the CJV procurement department providing ongoing support to the procurement process regarding supplies, rentals/leasing and subcontractors.
- Part of training programs for local staff, when it comes to Track Works, both for development of content and as a trainer.
- Plan and manage works (own staff, subcontracted staff, owned equipment, leased equipment) monitoring the overall progress of the project and taking corrective action where necessary and as appropriate.
- Attend to meetings with the client. The purpose of these meetings will include but will not be limited to: provide updates on the progress of the different workstreams; presentation of business cases, proposals, strategies; resolution of comments and questions; and obtain approvals on the initiatives and proposals made by the CJV.
- Support the rest of the departments: Planning, Cost control, Estimating, Scheduling, Design/technical office, HS, Qa/Qc.
- Liase with key stakeholders (i.e. subcontractors, client, union representatives, etc) to ensure that work can proceed as planned:
- Identify risk and make recommendations for mitigation strategies
- Manage variations in the agreements
- Oversee invoicing
- Flexibile and able to adapt to different shifts.
- Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.
What You Bring To The Team:
- Engineering or construction management degree.
- 10+ years working in a similar role with prior management experience.
- Demonstrated contract and financial management experience.
- Consultancy experience in railway projects.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English both spoken and written, in a professional environment, or provable ability to get this level in no more than three months.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure.
- Ability and willingness to adapt to different environments (Different resources, different requirements/rules, differences in human resources management) and shifting priorities.
- Design experience in railway projects.
- European English Certificate level C1-C2 (CEFR) or equivalent.
- Experience working in Metrolinx and Class I railroads environments is an asset.
- Knowledge in BIM and collaborative procedures is an asset.
