Job Description

The Underground Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and diagnostics of heavy machinery used underground, including loaders, drills, and mining trucks. This role involves conducting inspections, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations. The mechanic collaborates closely with the maintenance team to minimize production downtime and optimize equipment performance.

Responsibilities

  • Properly inspect and maintain mobile or air-powered equipment (both surface and underground).
  • Safely install machinery or equipment.
  • Perform basic welding and oxy-fuel cutting as needed.
  • Ensure that all tasks are carried out efficiently and safely.
  • Work closely with all team members.
  • Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
  • Actively participate in safety activities and training sessions.
  • Accurately complete daily reports and work orders.
  • Comply with all laws, regulations, and workplace procedures.
  • Perform any other related duties as required.

Job Requirements

  • Diploma of Vocational Studies (DEP) in Heavy Equipment Mechanics or equivalent training and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as a Mobile Equipment Mechanic; experience with Alimak equipment is an asset.
  • Common Core certification.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Basic computer skills (an asset).
  • Ability to communicate in both French and English with team members.
